1. Performance Level Survey

DPI reports student achievement on the required statewide assessments using performance levels which provide information to parents/guardians, educators, and others about student achievement relative to the Wisconsin Academic Standards for their grade level. The Office of Educational Accountability (OEA) has reviewed the current performance levels (advanced, proficient, basic, and below basic) and performance levels used in other states to identify options that may better reflect an asset-based, growth mindset.

OEA is surveying District Administrators, District Assessment Coordinators, and a variety of other stakeholder groups on these options to inform a final decision. Please consider completing this survey and/or passing it along to interested individuals within your district. The survey should take under five minutes and the completion deadline is December 22.

Thank you always for your collaboration and support. Please contact the Office of Educational Accountability at oeamail@dpi.wi.gov with questions.

2. Community Engagement Sessions and Survey for Strategic Planning

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is developing a strategic plan that is rooted in equity to ensure that the strategies and measurements of progress align with DPI's mission and vision. We are committed to transparency and inclusivity, actively involving both DPI colleagues and external stakeholders in a collaborative process. As a part of that process, we are reaching out to share materials that will make it easy for you to inform your school community of engagement opportunities.

Since we first kicked off the DPI five-year strategic planning process in the spring of 2023, the DPI has scheduled and held public engagement sessions both online and in communities in the north of our state. We’ve been to Minocqua, Weston, Eau Claire, Onalaska, Washburn, and Spooner. For the rest of December, we will visit Green Bay and Crivitz, as well as hold a virtual online engagement session. Visit the strategic planning community engagement session page for more information and to sign up.

Starting in January 2024, we will expand our visits to the rest of the state, making sure that as many folks as possible have an engagement session that is easily accessible by hosting events in and near Oshkosh, Madison, Dodgeville, Kenosha, Janesville, and Milwaukee. Childcare is available at all in-person sessions!

For an updated calendar of sessions, please check out the strategic planning page on the DPI website. While there, you can also find printable flyers (in English, Spanish, and Hmong) that include QR codes to easily access the survey.
