Alert Concerning Cybersecurity

Friday, February 25, 2022

Good morning,

Due to the unfolding crisis in Ukraine, cybersecurity experts are urging extra caution and protections concerning the potential for phishing and other forms of targeted strategies. Please consult this letter from Assistant State Superintendent Tessa Michaelson Schmidt from the Division for Libraries and Technology.

On a more personal note, my heart goes out to those most affected by this war of Russian aggression: the people of Ukraine. Yesterday, a colleague shared this poem “So I’ll talk about it” by a renowned Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan, and I’m sharing an excerpt here as a moment of reflection.

Everything started with music
with scars left by songs…
Music beyond the cemetery wall….
The most beaten paths lead to the cemetery and water…
The world is brimming with music and fire....
Echoing, the music of those who cart stones from the field.

Echoing, it doesn’t stop.

As always, thank you for all you do to keep our students supported and safe.

Sincerely,

John W. Johnson, PhD
Deputy State Superintendent
