Instructional Materials & Professional Learning - Update on Annual Survey

Monday, February 1, 2021

Dear District Administrators,

Due to the extraordinary pressure you have been under this school year, we have decided not to administer the annual survey to collect updated information on instructional materials being used in literacy and mathematics.

We know this information is important to you, and we promised a data display to access this information easily. And we know you have been focusing on this work-- last month Wisconsin was featured in a national webinar by RAND, highlighting teacher survey results which included a large increase in the percentage of teachers who report using high-quality instructional materials over the last three years, especially in math.

To make this as easy as possible, we used last year’s survey data, and developed this data display (Password: IMPLpreview). It will go live on our website on March 1, 2021. However, you have between now and then to change what is represented in the data set by letting us know here what has changed for you (the Update District Data button can also be used on the mapping site). If we don’t hear from you by February 22, 2021, your data will go live as it is represented here. There will also be an ongoing way to update your data built into the data display even once it is live.

We will leave it up to you if you want to change your information if you made an instructional materials change that is temporary due to COVID remote learning. Please include only PRIMARY instructional materials--not supplemental materials.

DPI is partnering with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at UW-Madison to assist with this work. If you have questions about this data display or the survey to update your data, please contact implwisconsin@wcer.wisc.edu. Thanks in advance!
