Event Description

The State Superintendent's Advisory Council on Blindness and Visual Impairment Education:

  • advises the state superintendent on statewide activities to benefit students who are blind or visually impaired;
  • makes recommendations for improvements in services provided by the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI);
  • and proposes ways to improve the preparation of teachers and staff and coordination between the department and other agencies that offer services to the visually impaired.

The Birth to 3 Subcommittee was formed by the above council to explore the challenges and recommend solutions regarding the licensure and professional development of individuals who provide services for children ages birth to 3 who are blind and visually impaired.

  • Review the letter of recommendation and prepare to lead the discussion at the March 16 SAC
  • Determine next steps related to in-service and pre-service training for vision professionals
  • Generate list of birth to 3 curriculum needs to share with Concordia
  • Plan for next meetings
  • Adjourn
