ALA Community Engagement Grants for Small and Rural Libraries

Many congratulations to the 11 Wisconsin libraries that received a first-round American Library Association (ALA) Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC) grant!

Congratulations to:

  • Antigo Public Library (Antigo, WI)
  • Aram Public Library (Delavan, WI)
  • Barron Public Library (Barron, WI)
  • D.R. Moon Memorial Library (Stanley, WI)
  • Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library (Three Lakes, WI)
  • Hillsboro Public Library (Hillsboro, WI)
  • Kewaunee Public Library (Kewaunee, WI)
  • Lodi Public Library (Lodi, WI)
  • Monticello Public Library (Monticello, WI)
  • Mount Horeb Public Library (Mount Horeb, WI)
  • Oregon Public Library (Oregon, WI)

These 11 Wisconsin libraries are among the 200 small and rural libraries across the country to be awarded a $3,000 grant in support of costs related to their community engagement projects. The goal of these grants is to:

  • Teach library workers facilitation skills, through the LTC: Facilitation Skills for Small and Rural Libraries asynchronous six-part e-course and facilitation guide, to lead a community conversation
  • Provide flexible funding to support libraries’ community engagement efforts

In the second funding round 450 additional grants will be awarded. To be eligible applicants must have an institutional OR personal membership with either the American Library Association OR the Association for Rural & Small Libraries.

This opportunity is open to all types of libraries serving small and/or rural communities in the U.S. and U.S. territories. The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) defines libraries serving small communities as those with a legal service area population of 25,000 or less and a rural community as one that is more than, or equal to, five miles from an urbanized area.

ALA has all the info you need to apply for second-round funding.

Second round applications are due March 4, 2021.
