MADISON — State Superintendent Tony Evers congratulated Sandra Kowalczyk for being named a 2018 Educator of the Year by the Association for Middle Level Education. Kowalczyk, a reading specialist at Patrick Marsh Middle School in Sun Prairie, will receive the award during the association’s annual conference Oct. 25-27 in Orlando, Fla.

“Congratulations to Sandra on being named the Association for Middle Level Education 2018 Educator of the Year. Having educators recognized nationally speaks to the quality of teachers we have in Wisconsin. Sandra is a former Wisconsin Teacher of the Year and valued member of our Teacher of the Year Council. She is a passionate advocate for middle level teachers and students.

“Sandra’s work to engage her students in literacy through a variety of experiences and subjects opens students’ eyes to the vast world around them and has shaped a desire to read and learn in countless kids. Our schools and our state are all made better through the enthusiasm and drive of teachers like Sandra.”
