DPI Media Line, (608) 266-3559MADISON — State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly released the following statement today in response to budget initiatives announced by Gov. Tony Evers and in anticipation of his budget address tonight.
“I agree with Gov. Evers, budgets are about priorities, and that is why we must fund our schools in the most robust and sustainable way possible. To do anything less would be an abdication of our responsibility as leaders and a betrayal of our current and future generations of learners.
“Our shared responsibility as Wisconsinites is why I strongly support the budget initiatives proposed by Gov. Evers, and why I applaud his prioritization of our kids and their education by including my department’s budget requests in his proposal. I look forward to working with him and all elected leaders to get this budget over the finish line in its current, visionary, and desperately needed form.”
