Fine Arts Standards Draft and Review of Standards in Two New Content Areas

Dear District Administrators and CESA Administrators,

The State Superintendent has developed and used a transparent and inclusive process to review and revise academic standards https://dpi.wi.gov/standards. Provided in this email for your review and distribution is the draft of Wisconsin Standards for Art and Design, developed by our state-wide writing committee and informed by key stakeholders from Wisconsin.

We are now in a 30-day public and legislative comment period. We will be holding a public hearing on July 29 in Madison at the DPI from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm, at the Department of Public Instruction, GEF 3, Room P41, 125 South Webster Street, Madison.

Following this public review, the writing committee (the membership list is posted on the content area webpage) will be meeting in August to make changes/revisions to this draft based on input provided during the review period, and present them a the next meeting of the State Superintendent’s Standards Review Council in September.

This is exciting work, and we have had very positive feedback from educators and business experts in this area who were engaged in the key stakeholder feedback.

I am providing links to the standards posted online, the content area webpage, and the online feedback form for public comment.

We will be reviewing, using our checklist and reviewing feedback from the public, the current academic standards in two new content areas: English Language Arts and Physical Education. I am sharing links to the surveys and webpages for each content area:
