Department will hold hearing on proposed rules related to expanding pedagogical knowledge assessment in educator preparation programs

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will conduct a hearing to accept public testimony on proposed permanent rules related to expanding the assessment of pedagogical knowledge in educator preparation programs.
 
The objective of the proposed rule is to provide flexibility in the assessment of pedagogical knowledge as a condition for completion of an educator preparation program under s. PI 34.021.
 
Those intending to testify will be required to present photo identification at the security desk near the Webster Street public entrance. Those using the building’s Butler Street handicapped accessible entrance should press a doorbell for admittance and check in with security. Written comments received no later than the date of the hearing will be given the same consideration as testimony presented at the hearing.
 
A copy of the proposed rules is available on the department's Administrative Rules webpage or the Wisconsin Legislature Rules site. Written comments may be submitted in lieu of testimony by no later than Feb. 6 by using this online form, or sent to the department’s administrative rules coordinator or by U.S. mail to Carl Bryan, administrative rules coordinator, 125 South Webster Street, P.O. Box 7841, Madison, WI 53707-7841.
