Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) Program

Title V, Part B, Subpart 1

The Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) Program is an extension of the REAP (Rural Education Achievement Program), with expanded eligibility, flexibility, and funding.

A local educational agency (LEA) may use SRSA funds to pay for activities that are allowable under Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; Title III; Title IV, Part A; and Title IV, Part B of the ESEA.

 

General Information on SRSA:

This program provides two main benefits to eligible school districts:

  • Additional funding from the U.S. Department of Education
  • Alternative Fund Use Authority (AFUA)

Each year, approximately 120 Wisconsin school districts are eligible for Title V-B (1). Exact allocations will be made and shared by the U.S. Department of Education.

Applying for SRSA:

To receive Title V-B (1) funding, SRSA-eligible districts must apply directly to the U.S Department of Education. The Department contacts every SRSA-eligible district each winter. The district must complete an electronic grant application as directed by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Rural Education Achievement Program Alternative Fund Use Authority (REAP-AFUA):
REAP-AFUA permits SRSA-eligible LEAs to use all or a part of its formula Title II, Part A and Title IV, Part A funds to carry out activities authorized under Title I-A, Title II-A, Title III-A, Title IV-A, and Title IV-B.
