Wisconsin Academic Standards Adoption

Monday, May 24, 2021

Dear District Administrators,

State Superintendent Stanford Taylor has adopted new Wisconsin Standards for Mathematics and English Language Development. These new academic standards were developed by Wisconsin educators and experts using a transparent and inclusive process with educator and public engagement.

We have posted these new standards on the Academic Standards, Mathematics, and English Language Development webpages. In the future, we will post additional supporting resources and professional learning for educators related to these standards on the content area webpage. This is exciting work, and we have had very positive feedback from educators and business leaders who were engaged in reviewing these revised standards.

Additionally, to support your planning, we have posted an updated Timeline for Review of Wisconsin Academic Standards that details the content areas to be reviewed for potential revision through 2026.

Please contact John Johnson, Director, Literacy and Mathematics Team (john.johnson@dpi.wi.gov), if you have any questions.

Please share this information with your staff, and encourage them to use these new standards.
