Technical Information about the Wisconsin School Performance Report

Data for the School Performance Report (SPR) is reported to DPI by school districts and charter schools using a web-based data collection application. Districts and schools may key data into forms, or they may upload comma-delimited text files that have been prepared by vendor-supported or locally supported school management software (SMS) or special routines.

DPI strongly encourages all districts and schools to use the file upload process if at all possible. It saves time and greatly reduces the possibility of data errors introduced by keying. Vendors sell school management software in part on the premise that the software will help complete state-required reports. Districts and schools should work with their vendors and local technical support staff to make this happen.
