Deadline to Apply for Fellowship Program on March 2

Tuesday, February 22, 2022

The deadline to apply for the E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program is quickly approaching.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement is accepting applications from Hispanic-Serving Institutions through March 2, 2022. The fellowship gives faculty and staff from HSIs around the nation the chance to work collaboratively with the USDA to learn more about the federal government. There are two types of fellowships: the Education fellowship, and the High School fellowship. High School Fellowships are for secondary education superintendents, principals, agricultural and/or district level teachers working for a Hispanic-Serving School District.

The experience brings together staff at HSIs and executives at the federal level to address challenges and work to develop a well prepared Hispanic workforce. Fellows attend a one-week program (July 11-15, 2022) in Washington, D.C. with a goal of increasing understanding of the USDA and other federal agencies.

Visit the USDA’s website for more information on applying for the fellowship. Read more about the USDA's programs related to minority-serving institutions on the agency's website.
