April is Family Strengthening Month in Wisconsin, a transformation of the observance of National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month. The mission is to focus on the strengths families can draw on to build a safe and nurturing family environment.
How to support Family Strengthening Month:
- Check out these updated resources from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction on the prevention of child abuse and neglect and training for mandated reporters (this resource was updated in March 2023 – New training materials are expected in the fall).
- Browse activities that show our commitment to children and families provided by The Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin, Office of Children’s Mental Health, SFTA, and the Department of Children and Families.
- The 2023 Family Strengthening Month Toolkit provides information to communities, organizations, and individuals on how to promote Family Strengthening efforts in April and throughout the year. Use these ideas or use the information provided in this resource to develop your own.
- Join the Wisconsin Family Strengthening Month committee and other organizations throughout the state that support children and families in our Family Strengthening Month activities.
- Follow the Wisconsin Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Board on Facebook to see Five for Families social media posts.
