In light of the tragedy that took place in Waukesha last week, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Student Services/Prevention and Wellness team compiled a number of resources aimed at families processing grief and traumatic events.
Resources include information on how to talk to children about traumatic events, how to help kids grieve, and how to help the healing process.
“I am grateful to how our school communities rally around one of our own, offering personnel and resources to help them through trying times such as this,” State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly said in an email to district administrators last week. “We truly are stronger together, and I am thankful for your continued partnership and commitment in service to all students.”
