Only three opportunities are left, all in March, to take advantage of low-cost school safety trainings offered by the Wisconsin Safe and Healthy Schools Center this year.
The trainings are based on PREPaRE, described as the only comprehensive curriculum on these topics which has been developed by school-based professionals with firsthand experience and formal training.
Developed by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), PREPaRE
- builds on existing personnel, resources, and programs;
- provides for sustainability; and
- can be adapted to individual school needs and size.
The one-day workshop provides crisis-planning training for any school professional or community provider included on a crisis team or involved in promoting school safety.
A one-day workshop will be held at Janesville School District on March 22, 2017.
A two-day workshop focuses on crisis intervention and recovery, and is aimed at pupil services staff, school-based mental health professionals, and community providers who will provide crisis intervention and recovery services.
Through Department of Public Instruction support, costs for the trainings have been kept to $25 for the one-day workshop and $50 for the two-day workshops.
