State Superintendent Welcomes Students, Educators Back to School

As students and teachers head back to the classroom for the 2021-22 school year, State Superintendent Jill Underly made her way around the state wishing them well.
 
Dr. Underly was joined by Gov. Tony Evers on various stops across the state for the first day of school, speaking to school staff and interacting with students along the way. School visits by Dr. Underly included schools in the Green Bay Area Public School District, the Eau Claire Area School District, the School District of La Crosse, Milwaukee Public Schools, the Monona Grove School District, and the Madison Metropolitan School District.

On Aug. 25, Dr. Underly sent a message to Wisconsin, encouraging communities to do their part to ensure school buildings stay open throughout the school year with no disruptions in learning. In the editorial, Dr. Underly thanked educators for their tireless work, and students for their ability to adapt and continue learning.
