Invasive Species in Your Forests Workshop

Event Description

Invasive species are all too common in the forests of Wisconsin. Workshop participants will delve into the world of forest invasives through a combination of hands-on activities, field experiences, and discussion. Learn about the variety of invasive plants and animals that diminish the resilience and biodiversity in Wisconsin forestlands. K-12 educators who utilize outdoor classrooms, such as school forests are especially encouraged to attend. Techniques for identification, management, and citizen science will be provided in this outdoor workshop.

This workshop is open to all formal and non-formal K-12 educators and focuses on the subject areas of science, environmental science, and social studies.

The workshop will be held outdoors at the Menzel Pavilion in Schmeeckle Reserve on the UW-Stevens Point campus.

Guest experts from Wisconsin DNR Forest Health, experienced school forest educators, and LEAF staff will lead this workshop.
