2020 National School Lunch Program Equipment Grant Awardees

Wisconsin received $379,089.90 from the United States Department of Agriculture to distribute to School Food Authorities (SFAs) for the 2020 NSLP Equipment Grant. The DPI School Nutrition Team received requests for 177 pieces of equipment from 106 School Food Authorities (SFAs). The School Nutrition Team is awarding 44 pieces of equipment to 29 SFAs, for a total of $379,089.00. The oldest pieces of equipment being replaced include a 50-year-old service table at Argyle School District and a 50-year-old dishwasher at Platteville School District.

Criteria and Qualifications

  • Each piece of requested equipment must be a minimum of $1,000.

  • Each SFA could request a maximum total of $25,000 for up to two pieces of equipment.

  • Priority was given to SFAs that have not previously been awarded an equipment grant.

  • Unlike previous years, the USDA did not mandate priority be given to schools with more than 50% of students qualifying for free and reduced-price meals.
