Governmental Funding Sources

Brighter Star funds Formerly known as the DCF Scholarship, Brighter Star funds are part of Wisconsin’s independent living program and are available to support the postsecondary costs for individuals with foster care experience. This includes educational and training programs. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) oversees Brighter Star and contracted partners administer funds to qualifying individuals.

American Foreign Service Association Various deadlines. Available to families that are member to the American Foreign Service Assocation and parents or guardians are/were an employee(s) of the Foreign Service.

Breakthrough Junior Challenge STEM video contest To qualify, create a short (under three minutes) video explaining a challenging concept in physics, mathematics, or the life sciences in an engaging, illuminating, and creative way. If you win, you’ll receive a $250,000 college scholarship, your teacher will receive a $50,000 prize, and your school will get a new $100,000 science lab.

Bucky's Tuition Promise The program guarantees scholarships and grants to pay for tuition and segregated fees for students whose household adjusted gross income (AGI) is $60,000 or less. Incoming freshmen will receive eight (8) consecutive semesters (4 years) of free tuition and segregated fees and transfer students will receive four (4) semesters (2 years).
