POLICY and PROCEDURE MANUAL
WISCONSIN FCCLA BOARD of DIRECTORS

I. State Board of Directors Governance and Powers

The governing body of the Wisconsin Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. shall be the advisory FCCLA Board of Directors. The primary function of the Board of Directors shall be to advise matters of policy relating to the program and fiscal management. The State Family and Consumer Sciences Education Consultant and FCCLA State Adviser is the administrator of the organization. The Board Director receives information from the FCCLA State Adviser/FCS Education Consultant and acts upon recommendation relative to the management of the program and fiscal matters.

II. Duties, Responsibilities and Authority

Board member shall agree to commit the time to serve a term of one, two, or three years on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. Board members shall be expected to attend the majority of all regular and special meetings of the Board and to serve on committees as assigned. Members are also strongly encouraged to attend the State Leadership Conference. Members shall demonstrate an active interest in family and consumer science education and FCCLA’s mission, goals, programs, and activities. They shall abide by and support all decisions, policies, and programs adopted by the Board. They shall not act independently on matters that should be decided by the entire Board, keeping the mission statement of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. as the focal point. Board members shall promote interest and active participation in the organization on the part of the membership and representative groups. Board members shall agree to represent Wisconsin Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Inc. when called on by the Board President, FCCLA State Adviser/FCS Education Consultant with the Department of Public Instruction. Board members shall review suggested amendment and formulate proposed amendments to the Bylaws and vote on the proposed budgets.

III. Membership

The Board of Directors shall consist of the current FCCLA State President, current FCCLA First Vice President, one at-large occupational chapter adviser with 10 or more years of teaching FCS and being a FCCLA Adviser, one at-large comprehensive chapter adviser with 5 or more years of teaching FCS and being a FCCLA Adviser, one school administrator, two individuals from business and industry, one parent of past or present FCCLA member or officer, one individual representing WFCE, WAFCS, or FCCLA Foundation, Inc. and the FCCLA State Adviser/FCS Education Consultant.
