Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Standards Companion Resources

Wisconsin Agriculture, Food and Natural Standards (AFNR) Resources:

The primary mission of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources education is to prepare students for agricultural, food and natural resources occupations and to teach students about agriculture. Education about Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources focuses on those aspects of agriculture that affect every member of society, whereas preparation for agriculture occupations focuses on the preparation of individuals to own or operate their own business or to work in a variety of agriculturally related career functions.

Within the local school district and community, it is the agriculture educator who must develop and nurture a comprehensive agriculture program. The support base for the program should include former students, business employees/employers, informed educators, parents and all others who recognize that agriculture education can improve the quality of life for the individual and well-being of the community.

The Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources consultant and staff at the Department of Public Instruction offer major support to agriculture educators at all levels.
