Florence High School received a visit from State Superintendent Tony Evers on Monday, February 26, 2018 as part of our celebration of Career & Technical Education Month in Wisconsin. CTE month takes Evers to Florence County School District
MADISON — Students will talk about classwork that’s preparing them for college and careers during Monday’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) month visit to Florence Middle / High School by State Superintended Tony Evers.
Following general greetings at 1:15 p.m., Evers, community partners, and invited guests will visit the business and information technology computer lab. Kay McLain, instructor and 2017 Wisconsin Rural Teacher of the Year, will give an overview of the program. Students will then talk about accounting and office internships they can access as well as industry certifications and college credit available through a partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
At 2:15 p.m., activities will move to the Fab Lab (Room 428). Attendees will learn how the lab is connected to the business and information technology program. Students will demonstrate projects with businesses and individuals, the engineering design process, and connections with elementary and middle school computer classes.
