River Falls & Chippewa Valley Technical College: Business Management Academy Connects Students With Opportunities To Be Career & College Ready

Thursday, August 30, 2018

Innovative leaders at River Falls High School and Chippewa Valley Technical College launched the Business Management Academy and implemented the opportunity for 30 freshman students during the 2017-18 school year to participate in a four year program that will support the 2021 high school graduates to also earn an Associates Degree in Business Management.  Although dual enrollment with Wisconsin Technical College System partners is not exactly new, the commitment of the academy partners to develop an embedded four-year program showcases their vision on how students in their community are striving to be career and college ready.

Career and technical education month story from February 2018 celebrating the initial year of the Business Management Academy.

As the 2018-19 school year begins, a second cohort of students are entering their first year of the Business Management Academy.  To participate in the academy, students and parents completed an application that is linked on the Chippewa Valley Technical College Academies website.  The posted academy schedule details 23 courses that students will progress through during their high school experience.  According to the School District of River Falls website for Academic and Career Planning, the River Falls High School academic and career planning mission is "To provide a personalized education where students explore all options to prepare to be successful, productive members of society." with a vision statement that compliments "Students will be supported by meaningful adult relationships in order to enhance their seven essential skills for academic and career success."  To support their mission and vision, River Fall's students entering their high school experience will also be "Creating Connections" and "Building Futures" with the benefit of a new College and Career Center during this school year.
