Smart Cities Competition

Wednesday, August 22, 2018

The internet of things (IoT) has revolutionized both education along with how our society collaborates in both personal and professional endeavors.  A recent Forbes magazine article highlights 10 ways the Forbes Technology Council envisions smart cities may target future tech investments.  Earlier this month, a statewide announcement was made promoting up to $1 million in prizes over the next three years to students, faculty and staff at Wisconsin colleges who generate winning ideas.  Our high school business and information technology education programs who have articulated agreements with post-secondary partners may be interested in learning more about this post-secondary student experience.  The competition is open to everyone affiliated with the University of Wisconsin System, the Wisconsin Technical College System and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, which includes our 24  private colleges.  Submissions for the competition can be made beginning in late September. The deadline for the first round of entries is October 31.  Additional details about the educational program may be viewed online at https://wismartcities-smartfutures.com/about-the-contest/.
