Wisconsin Education Research Advisory Council (WERAC)

Originally convened in 2011, the State Superintendent's Wisconsin Education Research Advisory Council (WERAC) guides the development of the Department of Public Instruction's (DPI) research agenda around the most critical issues facing our Wisconsin's education system. WERAC's mission statement is:

To establish a statewide research agenda for critically important PK-20 educational issues; foster collaboration among stakeholders involved in research; and aid the broad dissemination of research results.

In addition to regularly providing valuable advice on internal research agenda projects, WERAC was a crucial partner in the development of DPI's Dropout Early Warning System (DEWS), and brought together two collaborations around grant proposals, including the DPI's latest successful grant under the US Department of Education's statewide longitudinal data systems program.
