Hello?

Hi, it’s the CTE Team at DPI calling you. We need your input on the revised performance levels that will guide your work for the next four years through a public-comment survey.

Wait, what?

We’re asking the CTE community for your input on a short survey about how we’re going to measure student performance for the next four years. You see, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education (CTE) for the 21st Century Act (or, Perkins V) requires that states set goals to measure performance of students in Career and Technical Education programs. The Wisconsin Perkins V State Plan currently includes the following eight secondary indicators:

1S1 – Four-year Graduation
1S2 – Seven-year Graduation
2S1 – ACT ELA
2S2 – ACT Math
2S3 – ACT Science
3S1 – Post-Program Placement
4S1 – Non-Traditional Occupations
5S3 – Work-Based Learning

Starting in 2025 and continuing through 2028, we will measure these same eight indicators; however, it is time to reset them. Without advancing measures, there’s no consistency, there’s no benchmark by which you can measure improvement, and there’s no driver for how we do our work. In addition, our performance levels ensure you are doing the critical work and maintaining your areas of focus.

We also want to make sure the new performance indicators are reasonable and attainable. That’s where we need your help. We want to provide realistic goals that move us toward better overall performance and stronger student outcomes.

Oh, I see.

So please take the brief public-comment survey on our performance indicators, would you? Will you answer our call? Comments will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday March 30, 2024.

Thank you.
