Prizes Await Young Entrepreneurs

Every day in Wisconsin, young entrepreneurs take a chance on success, turning their dreams into businesses that have a big impact on the lives of others. Now they are encouraged to pitch their business for an “investment” of up to $10,000 in scholarships and cash prizes.

Ernst & Young, Junior Achievement (JA), and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction would like to invite entrepreneurial individuals who have started and currently operate an actual business to apply for the 2021 Young Entrepreneur Live Competition by November 30, 2020. Young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their business in front of a panel of celebrity judges. All finalists will be awarded scholarships and prizes with the overall winner receiving a scholarship/cash prize of $10,000!

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Student(s) must be in grade 5-12, a legal resident of the United States and the state of Wisconsin, and currently enrolled in a primary, middle, or high school (public, parochial, private, virtual, or home school). Applicant need not be a JA student.
  • Owner(s) or manager(s) of a private or public company. Business may be seasonal and must have been in operation since January 2020. Multiple owners will equally share the scholarship/cash prize. The business must have been created by the applicant(s), whom must have had continuity of ownership/management throughout the existence of the business. The applicant must have created the business and had continuity of ownership throughout the existences of the business.
  • Finalists must be available for a live presentation (safe and socially distanced) on Thursday, January 28, 2020, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the presentation is preferred but not required. One room of lodging will be covered by JA.
  • Applicant(s) cannot be a previous winner of this award.
