Discipline Incident Identifier

Discipline Incident Identifier: Discipline

Discipline app icon

This is a locally-assigned unique identifier (within the school or school district) to identify each specific incident or occurrence. It is not the same as the generically-assigned Ed-Fi Incident ID. Incident Identifier is a required field.

The same identifier should be used to document the entire incident even if it included multiple offenses and multiple offenders. Associating, for a single student, multiple disciplinary actions (removals) that resulted from a single incident should be a priority. For the 2016-17 transition year, incidents for multiple offenders may be sent as separate discipline incidents with the expectation that for 2017-18 the definition above will be met.

USES: This data element is critical in tracking an incident to the correct school where the incident occurred.
