IDEA Indicator (Part B): Special Education

IDEA Indicator (Part B): Use the code value “B” to indicate if the initial special ed evaluation was completed under IDEA Part B. Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B provides funds for special education services for students aged 3-21.
IDEA Part B funds are provided to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) on a formula basis for programs and services to students with disabilities who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Part B funds may be used for staffing, educational materials, equipment, and other costs to provide special education and related services, as well as supplementary aids and services, to students with disabilities.
Note for Pilot Year:
Indicator 11 data collection is currently in its pilot school year for the 2022-23 school year. The Indicator 11 project will help record the date of parental consent and the date of the evaluation for special education eligibility in WISEdata Portal and WISEdash for Districts. It will also improve the collection, quality, and use of our data about how students are receiving timely evaluation for special education eligibility, which is their right in federal law.
For more information refer to the Timely Special Ed Evaluation data element page.
