Classroom Identification Code (Location): Roster

Roster app icon

Classroom Identification Code defines a unique number or alphanumeric code assigned to a room by a school, school system, state, or other agency or entity for classes that occur in-person or as part of hybrid learning. Locations represent the physical space where students gather for a particular class/section. Since locations represent the physical space where students gather for a particular class/section, classes that occur through remote/virtual learning modality will have a location of ‘remote’. The location may be an indoor or outdoor area designated for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of students.

This data is collected at the school level. SIS vendors and schools may default this value to ‘unknown’ if this code is not currently collected or maintained. Refer to the Learning Modality data element page for more details and examples of remote, hybrid and in-person learning.

USES: This data element links a class to the location where it's being taught.
