WISEdash Notice

During your visit to WISEdash information that is not readily identifiable to an individual is automatically collected and stored by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). This information is used solely to improve our web services. This information will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by state and federal law, including the Wisconsin Public Records Law.  For more information on our privacy policy, please see the expanded statement following.


Information Collected and How It is Used

During your visit to the site, the site will automatically collect and store the following information about your visit:

1. The Internet Protocol address and domain name used;
2. The type of browser and operating system you used and your connection speed; 
3. The date and time you visited this site;
4. The web pages or services you accessed at this site; and
5. The web site you visited prior to coming to this web site.

This information is used to improve the content of WISEdash.  This information is not personally identifiable, and the DPI will make no attempt to link this information with the individuals that browse the site.

If during your visit to the site you use the site to send an e-mail to the Department, the following information will be collected by the site: your email address; the contents of your email; and any audio, video, and graphic content that you may have included in your email. This information is used to respond to your email.

If during your visit to the site you participate in a survey, the site will collect any information that you volunteered in response to the survey. This information is only used for the purpose designated.
 


Personal Information and Choice

"Personal information" is information about an individual that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. Personal information includes personal identifiers such as an individual's name, address, and phone number. A domain name or Internet Protocol address is not considered personal information. 

The Website collects no personal information about you unless you voluntarily participate in an activity that asks for information (e.g., sending an e-mail, creating a help ticket, or participating in a survey). If you choose not to participate in these activities, your choice will in no way affect your ability to use any other feature of the site.

The DPI will protect your personal information to the extent permitted by state and federal law. 


Cookies

What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and may either be used only during your session (a "session" cookie) or may be stored on your computer's hard drive (a "persistent" cookie). Cookies can contain data about user movement during the visit to the website. If your browser software is set to allow cookies, a web site can send its own cookie to you. A web site that has set a cookie can only access those cookies it has sent to you, it cannot access cookies sent to you by other sites.

The Website uses cookies for the following purposes: 

- Session cookies are used during sessions to assist the user in their navigation of our site.

- WISEdash secured uses server-side encrypted cookies for the last domain and the user name.  This information is stored for 1 year.

- WISEdash uses server-side cookies to collect statistical usage information of the application.

- WISEdash uses encrypted session cookies for authentication to application user services.  These cookies are stored for 1 day.

- The DPI uses Google Analytics to analyze the use of the Website. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users’ computers. The information generated relating to the Website is used to create reports about the use of the Website. Google will store this information. Google’s privacy policy is available at: http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html.


Security

The DPI, as developer and manager of the site, has taken several steps to safeguard the integrity of its applications and infrastructure, including, but not limited to monitoring, auditing, and encryption as part of its continuing commitment to risk management. 


Disclaimer

The Website has links to other web sites. These include links to web sites operated by other government agencies, nonprofit organizations and private businesses. When you access a link to another site, you are no longer on the Website and this notice will not apply.
