Wisconsin Reading Comprehension Test:
An Assessment of Primary-Level Reading at Grade Three
Beginning in the spring of 1989, DPI administered the Wisconsin Reading Comprehension Test (WRCT), which was designed to identify students needing remedial reading instruction. The WRCT was administered annually in the spring through 2005, when it was replaced by the Grade 3 WKCE Reading Test as described below.
Test Results
Between 1989 and 2005 the Wisconsin Reading Comprehension Test (called the Third Grade Reading Test from 1989 to 1995) was administered each spring at grade 3 to help school districts identify students who may need additional assistance to improve their reading comprehension skills. From 1998 to 2005 the test classified results into advanced, proficient, basic, and minimal performance levels.
