Announcements from the WI DPI School Nutrition Team (SNT)

Updates from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) School Nutrition Team (SNT)

Updates to the School Nutrition Website

This new webpage provides instruction to schools or districts interested in joining the school nutrition programs and how to get started.

This webpage was moved from under the “Special Provision Options” section of the SNT website to its own place on the left navigation bar. If you have this page bookmarked, you may need to update the bookmark.

Special Dietary Needs Updates

Medical Statement Form
There is now a fillable Medical Statement Form for families requesting special dietary accommodations that can be completed electronically or printed and filled out by hand. This form is also available in Spanish and Hmong.

Fluid Milk Substitute Approval Form
School Food Authorities (SFAs) may offer students a fluid milk substitute that is nutritionally equivalent to cow's milk without a signed medical statement from the child’s health care team. However, you must request approval from the DPI School Nutrition Team to ensure the milk substitute meets nutritional guidelines.

Educational and Enrichment Activities for the Afterschool Snack Program

One of the foundations of the Afterschool Snack Program is providing an education or enrichment activity open to all students. Here are some educational and enrichment activities you can share directly with students to go along with their afterschool snack. While the school learning model may still be changing each week, you may share these links with families or print out the activity sheets and slide into a snack sack, or play the videos during snack time, as you wish.

As we are nearing the finish line of the school year, next week will be the last email of these direct-to-student resources. We hope this weekly offering has been helpful to those of you providing afterschool snacks.

Ladybug’s Birthday, read aloud with craft (grades Pre-K – 3)
Recipe: Ants on a Log (grades Pre-K – 3)
Visita Virtual de Sunbow – Spanish language video of Sunbow Produce Farm (grades 1-12)
