School Nutrition Accountability Software (SNACS)

School Nutrition Accountability Software (SNACS)

SNACS logo

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Bureau of School Nutrition (BSN) was awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant to develop an innovative technology solution to provide administrative support to schools that participate in USDA's Child Nutrition Programs. DPI's team of highly qualified and experienced professionals built a system designed to help schools manage their school nutrition programs.

The School Nutrition Accountability Software (SNACS) aligns school staff with the technology and tools necessary to be more productive and efficient, for significant time and cost savings. The system allows for more effective communication between DPI and participating schools related to the administrative aspects of the school nutrition programs. Because it is web-based, users will have secure access to the no-cost system through DPI’s website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. School users will also benefit from the support of members of the DPI BSN, who are readily available to offer the technical assistance, guidance, and expertise needed to help school staff realize the full potential of the SNACS program.

SNACS for Administrative Review

The DPI BSN uses SNACS for all Administrative Reviews (ARs). Your School Food Authority (SFA) will need access to the SNACS portal for your AR. Using the SNACS portal, you will submit off-site AR forms, upload AR documentation requested by the review team, and submit any SFA corrective action responses, if needed.

SNACS How-to Guides:

SNACS Access and Log-in Methods

Beginning October 1, 2026, the options for logging into SNACS going forward will be:
1. Google Enterprise Account
2. MyWisconsin ID

Note: If you already use SNACS and your Google Enterprise or MyWisconsin ID email address is the same email address that was used to create your WAMS ID, you should have continued access SNACS without any further action.

If your email address has changed, please follow the instructions below for Adding the First User for an SFA or Adding Additional Users.

Who needs access to SNACS?

Since SNACS is a secure portal that may contain sensitive student information, we limit access to users that require use of the software for the following purposes:

  • School Food Authority (SFA) is scheduled for an Administrative Review (AR) in the current school year OR has an open AR in progress.
  • SFA needs access to the Summer EBT portal in SNACS
  • SFA uses the Student Management and Eligibility Certification features in SNACS

Adding the First User for an SFA

If your SFA needs access to the SNACS application, the first step is to identify a point person at your SFA to have SNACS access, this person will be the SNACS SFA Admin. That one person should follow these instructions:

  1. You need either: a Google Enterprise account OR a MyWisconsin ID created with your work email address. To create a MyWisconsin ID, follow the MyWisconsin ID Self Registration Instructions.

  2. With your Google Enterprise or MyWisconsin ID email address in hand, Request Access to the SNACS Application via WISEhome.

  3. Once your SFA’s District Security Administrator (DSA) OR the DPI Customer Service Team notify you that access has been approved, email DPI SNACS Support for a SNACS Access Request Form (PI-6042).

  4. Complete the SNACS Access Request Form with the email address approved for SNACS access in WISEhome in Step 3 and email the form to DPI SNACS Support.

  5. The DPI SNACS Support Team will set up the SFA's SNACS account and the point person will receive a confirmation email.

Adding Additional Users

The point person (SNACS SFA Admin), can add any additional staff that need access to SNACS. Each staff added to SNACS will need their own MyWisconsin ID or Google Enterprise Account.

Please note, this is a two-part process.
Part 1: User must request access to SNACS in WISEhome (see Requesting Access to SNACS via WISEhome).
Part 2: SNACS SFA Admin adds the user to SNACS using the email address that was approved for SNACS access through WISEhome (see Adding a New User to SNACS).

Additional users do not need to submit the SNACS Access Request Form (PI-6042).

Please note that there is no access to the SNACS application directly through WISEhome. To access SNACS, always click the SNACS logo at the top of this page OR use the SNACS Login tile on this page.
