SNACS: School Nutrition Accountability Software

The Department of Public Instruction School Nutrition Team (DPI-SNT) was awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant to develop an innovative technology solution to provide administrative support to schools that participate in USDA’s Child Nutrition Programs. DPI’s team of highly qualified and experienced professionals has focused on building a state-of-the-art system designed to help schools manage their school nutrition programs. The main objective of the School Nutrition Accountability Software (SNACS) program is to align school staff with the technology and tools necessary to be more productive and efficient, ultimately leading to significant time and cost savings. The system will also allow for more effective communication between DPI and participating schools related to the administrative aspects of the school nutrition programs. Because it is web-based, users will have secure access to the no-cost system through DPI’s website 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. School users will also benefit from the support of members of the DPI-SNT, who will be readily available to offer the technical assistance, guidance, and expertise needed to help school staff realize the full potential of the SNACS program.
