School Immunization Requirement Changes for 2024–25 School Year

Thursday, May 30, 2024

The Department of Health Service recently announced that Wisconsin Admin. Code ch. DHS 144, Immunization of Students, which outlines the immunization requirements for childcare and school entry, is now updated to better align with national vaccine recommendations. Implementation of the updated school entry requirements will start with the 2024–25 school year.

Administrators are recommended to review Summary of Changes to Wisconsin 2024-25 School Immunization Requirements with your school nurse as it provides a crosswalk of the changes and detailed information.

Steps schools can take:

  • Communicate the need for children to be up to date on vaccinations to families.
  • Coordinate with your School Information System (SIS) vendor to make necessary changes to your SIS.
  • DHS will share updated forms as they become available.

Please visit the DHS School Immunization website for forms and more information. The DPI School Nurse/Health Services Consultant has been communicating and providing information to school nurses via her emails.
