We have been receiving questions about aid payments not matching expected amounts. Due to USDA program changes related to COVID-19, DPI is processing some claims and commodity handling charges differently from past practice. The most significant differences involve use of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) during the school year, and the DPI School Nutrition Team has been communicating with nutrition directors in districts that have been submitting claims under the SFSP rather than the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). They have a document available to help explain what is going on: USDA Foods Handling and Processing Fees for SY 2020-21.
As always, USDA and other payment-related adjustments are specified on your emailed payment remittance advice as well as the Aids Register.
