In addition to the general aids certification, and in response to public interest on this topic, DPI and the SFS Team are releasing information on the September 2021 pupil count. Data for 2021 are being presented along with the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 counts, as well as the changes between years, to provide appropriate context and reflect the multiple years of student membership that factor into school district revenue limits.

Summary data by sector (school districts, independent charter schools, and the four parental choice programs) are available with this morning's press release in the DPI News Room.

The SFS Team has compiled a detail file of data reported by school districts in the PI-1563 Pupil Count and PI-1804 Summer/Interim Session Reports. The Excel workbook includes:

  • Headcounts (Step 1 of the PI-1563 Pupil Count - September) by district, with overall totals and breakdowns between 4K/preschool special education, kindergarten, and grades 1-12.
  • Unadjusted membership FTE by district, with the same breakdown as headcount data plus the addition of summer FTE. These data are based on PI-1563 and PI-1804 submissions without any of the further modifications that are used to determine aid and revenue limit membership (e.g. choice or independent charter students, Challenge Academy, etc.) in order to provide a more accurate comparison with the September FTE information available for choice and independent charter schools.
  • Revenue limit FTE for 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22. These data reflect the three-year rolling average, 40 percent summer FTE adjustment, and newer independent charter school additions that go into revenue limit membership.
