Thursday, April 25, 2024

Happy Spring! A couple of reminders. We know everyone is actively supporting the educational process, finalizing summer projects and wrapping up the school year. This bulletin is focused on important and time sensitive reminders.

  • Membership Audits due May 1 - Membership audits are required by Wis. Stat. §115.28(18) for at least 25 percent of school districts each year. See Membership Audit Information page for details
  • Confirm your district has recently pushed data to WISEdata Finance
    • When was the last time it was pushed?
    • Remember to check on any new validations or required addenda
  • DPI Reporting Requirements - Spring at a Glance: Budget Adjustments
    • Fiscal Year at a Glance 2023-24
    • Budget Report Certification for 2023-2024
      • If you have not certified your 2023-2024 Budget Report, please review and certify
      • The SFS Team uses this information for the July 1 Aid Estimate
      • Contact us if you have any questions
    • Changes in Budgeted Information
      • School District Treasurers must also comply with Wis Stat § 120.16(2) to assure disbursements from the school district treasury are made within the law
      • Class 1 notice within 15 days after the change is made (publication)
    • Changes in Debt Schedule - Report any changes within 10 days
  • Claiming - School Districts are encouraged to claim on a regular basis. Quarterly claims improve cash-flow and reduce the potential for errors. We understand that not all districts have the staffing to complete quarterly claims.
    • Claim revenues are to be coded to the year that the expenditures occurred.
    • With ESSER III coming to a close, take time to review how the district will meet the established deadlines
  • Double check the following - Planning for 2024-2025

Update on the posting of Comparative Costs and Comparative Revenue. Both of these reports are posted after all audited financial statements have been submitted and reviewed by the School Financial Services Team. We know the field uses these reports for a variety of reasons.
